Wine Label Design

One of the bigger events for me in 2014 was little sister's wedding. I took on many smaller DIY projects to add to the big day, and one of my favorites was designing a custom wine label. One request was that there be a bird and a butterfly on the bottle to represent the bride and groom. The label also had to look equally nice on a Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, and White Zinfandel.

My solution was to design an elegant black and white label with a floral illustration peeking out from the top. I made the bird (groom) look to be chasing the butterfly (bride).

Lucky for me, there were LOTS of bottles leftover! Can you guess what brand of wine this is? :)

Trend Watch: Embroidery

Embroidery has been a huge trend for 2014. This classic art form is no longer reserved for the old-fashioned. When paired with trending colors and modern subject matter (think bees, succulents, constellations, etc...), embroidery becomes instantly hip.

Below is a trend board that includes some of my recent favorite embroidered pieces:

Kid Style: Just Like Mommy

My daughter is going through a stage where she wants to look and be just like me. (Awwwww!) When we're shopping, she'll sometimes tell me the things I choose for her are too "baby-ish", and if I tell her a skirt is cute, she instantly doesn't want it. She wants to be "pretty" not "cute", because "cute" is for toddlers. Did I mention she's 6??

This Kid Style post was inspired by my daughter. One of the things I love about the J.Crew kids line is that there's plenty of "grown up" options that are still practical and appropriate for little girls. Oh - and suuuuuper cute. Enjoy!

Weekend DIY

Below are some DIYs from around the web that I was inspired by for the weekend. Look at those colors! Even though back-to-school shopping is starting soon, I'm still holding on to those beautiful summer brights.

Please do check out the credit links below. This collection comes from some of my favorite blogs, Creature Comforts, Julep, The Purl Bee, and Mr Printables.
